The Architect
Sees the system, and wants to improve it.
energised by depth, quiet and your own head
trusts patterns, implications and what could be
decides by logic and consistency
wants things settled, planned and closed
You think in structures. Given a problem, you instinctively look for the underlying mechanism rather than the surface symptom, and once you can see it you find it very hard to pretend you cannot. You are comfortable being the only person who holds a particular view, which is a real strength and occasionally an expensive habit.
Strengths
- Strategic -- thinks several moves ahead by default
- Independent of consensus and social pressure
- Ruthless about discarding what is not working
- Capable of sustained effort toward a distant goal
Blind spots
- Dismisses input that arrives without reasoning attached
- Underestimates how blunt they sound
- Impatient with process and small talk
- Assumes competence is enough and neglects the relational work
Where to grow
- Ask a question before delivering a verdict
- Accept that feelings are data, not noise
- Let something be finished rather than optimal
In relationships
You are more romantic than you let on, but you express it as commitment and problem-solving rather than display. Partners often need more overt warmth than you naturally supply. The good news is that you can simply decide to supply it -- treat it as a requirement of the system, and you will.
How INTJ actually thinks
The four letters are a label; this is the mechanism. The order matters — the first function is what you lead with and trust, the last is where you are least comfortable and most easily knocked off balance.
Converges on where things are heading; works from a single unfolding picture.
Organises the outside world toward a measurable result.
Weighs things against a personal sense of what matters.
Reads the live situation and responds to it directly.
